“Executive here, with an exciting news report! Ahem.
As the jolly old man would say, ho ho ho, we’ve got snow! Pounds of snow! Feet upon feet of snow! In fact, we’ll be snowed in! Snow for weeks!
Ha!
No, not really.
What we get, gentlemen, is hail! Hail, and another batch of thunderstorms. Now all this hail and road-ice might keep supplies down a week or two, so save your bullets and split the dinner. We won’t be getting fresh fruits, meat, or dairy products for the next week and a half, but I’m dropping in a massive crate of beef jerky. You’ll be fine.
Our rain schedule’s erratic, gentlemen, the winds are gusting, and you tiny fellas might want to tie a tether around your waist when you go out.
Y’know, just in case.
Executive, out!”
“Good evening, gentlemen! Executive here. First off, we’ve been getting wind gusts strong enough to tear off your tits, and we’re expecting a dry thunderstorm to roll in sometime next week, so I’d suggest keeping your bra on. Ha! Now I’m not too concerned with the actual numbers here — ” There a sound of pages being flipped through, ” — but my boys here labeled these as ‘hurricane-force,’ so don’t be too surprised if your favorite hat ends up at the bottom of the ravine. Don’t worry, I’ve got a notice up on the cork-boards for you fellas with the details.”
There’s a pause as he clears his throat. The notice in question is, primarily, an advertisement for MANN Co. Brand ‘Cement Shoes,’ with little to no actual detail whatsoever.
“Second, and it’s a damn shame we’ve gotta put money into this, we’ve put up a Missing Persons board. Not for your average everyday citizens, of course, but for our mercenaries who’ve seemed to just vanish. If you know where they’ve gone, or if you’re the person in question, give us a call.
So, in conclusion: hurricane-force winds, dry thunderstorms, possible rain later this week, and a Missing Person’s board. Executive, out!”
There are eight infected in all, and I’m writing for four of them (five-ish, the sisters kind of make up one,) so if you’d like to have your character take out a few without going through an rp, there’s four others wandering around (although, if you’d like to have a run-in with one of the named ones without going through an rp, that’s fine too! )
I’ve posted starters for all of the infected I’m writing, and those are all open to reply to (links provided.) Please send me a fanmail on this blog or The Executive’s if you’d like to discuss a fight turn out.
As of now, many of the infected are wandering into the bases. Two medics are working on identifying the disease, and without animals to feed on, the infected are getting a little antsy.
Just some links!
And some other things:
Weather is mildly cloudy, chilly in the mornings, downright cold at night. Some scattered showers.
Respawn is still down. Battles have been postponed. (plot only)
For the plot: I’m really aiming for this not to be ‘heavy’ considering people are busy this time of year, so if you haven’t been posting/active for the first few days of the plot but would like to join in, don’t even worry about it, join in when you can! If anyone needs a basic run-down of what’s been going on, don’t hesitate to ask, I’m totally willing to keep you up to date.
I’ve been working on the disease specifics. These are just my ideas, if anyone’s got anything else/any concerns, please throw in a comment!
Some of the ‘zombies’ that are scavenging around the base are, in fact, in the latest stages of the incubation period, so this is for reference.
the disease travels through bites/consumption (provided what’s being consumed has traces of the infection, whether it’s blood, saliva, tissue, etc.) it’s almost exactly like rabies save for the fact it hits twice as hard and ten times as fast.
the incubation period really depends on the strength of the individual. it can take a few days to a few weeks — for example, the Executive was infected about eight days prior to the plot’s actual beginning, but he’s also designed to be comically strong (see: shark wrestling) so how many days it takes is up to the writer (i’d say a minimum of a day and twelve hours.)
the infection travels from the wound to the brain. dehumanization and cannibalization occur as the brain begins to shut down. this process takes two or three weeks to really become apparent in an infected individual, and this is when someone with a weak constitution (children, elderly, already sick) will die. for the infection to continue and the body to kick into survival-overdrive, the infected individual needs to be strong enough to survive the shock.
Symptoms (during incubation period)
Symptoms (during incubation period; later stages)
aaaand for now that’s all i’ve got!
The plot has begun! Here are the straight facts:
Outside contact has been cut. This doesn’t mean you can’t have rps going on with people outside the base, of course, but as far as the plot’s concerned the only contact with anyone off-base is by telephone.
Respawn has been shut down. If you’re not participating in the plot, or writing outside the plot, respawn is still functional as usual.
At least one infected is wandering. While the ‘pack’ hasn’t quite made its way out of the forest, it seems they’ve sent out a kind of scout or two to search for food. The normal small animals that are usually running around are, almost entirely, gone. An attack is possible, but the scout(s) won’t be too difficult to kill.
It’s up to the mercenaries to keep the infection from getting out; this means that whoever is participating will, at some point, be traveling to the infected town. That’ll be the big fireworks finale, the climax, what have you. In the coming days The Executive will end up being mostly useless.
Alright, just some plot updates!
I’m not sure if I’ll be here for a good half of tomorrow, when the plot is officially meant to start, so I am pushing it to Sunday (I apologize.)
Plus, I’ve only heard back from one of the medics out of the four (three?) we’ve got. Now, this plot is optional, so I’m not expecting everyone to answer, but I just wanted to remind the medics we’ve got that if you’re interested in being involved, please send me an ask/fanmail.
The medics are, primarily, working on some sort of cure/stabilizer. They can certainly be involved in the attacks as well, but that’s the main job the Executive’s going to be throwing at them.
Just reposting when people are awake!

I’ll be reposting this tomorrow as well.
The plot will begin this Saturday, Oct 20th.
This doesn’t mean the zombies/infected/whatever you’d like to call them will necessarily be attacking, but they’ll definitely be prowling, and I’ll finally be getting around to having the Executive speak with Medics and all that.
I’m still trying to work out kinks in the plot, but so far nothing’s changed much from the idea I posted. I’m planning on the plot lasting four or five days, maybe? Something around there, that week before Halloween.
ALSO NOTE: you don’t have to be involved with the plot if you’re uninterested — I personally am not planning on involving my spy aside from a drabble ( mostly because the Exec will be running around, but you know. )
Throw in any thoughts or requests or concerns you have!
Alright! Now, I’ve been toying with this idea for…well, most of this year. I didn’t really sit down to finalize it until recently, but that’s beside the point.
So like l4d o ^o? ))
kinda, yeah!
similar sorta mutations on a few of them, probably. most of them would be more on the animalistic side, or like hunters, if we’re thinking in that mindset.
